Hi, I’m Mark and, well, I REALLY like Bonsai.
It all started a few years ago when my cousin got his first Bonsai, and two weeks later I had 20 starters sitting in my back yard. My girlfriend (now wife) thought it was another thing that I would dive right into and then get sick of, but I really like the different types of plants and different types of Bonsai I could fashion these trees into, my imagination could run wild. Here we are a few years later and those 20 are now 15 (yes, I made a few mistakes) and growing into some beautiful trees.
Why start BonsaiDojo? When I was starting out I wanted to do as much of my own research as possible, being Gen Y my first stop was the internet, but I couldn’t find a single source of information and I didn’t want to keep bugging the guy at my local nursery (even though he was super nice and very helpful).
So here we are with BonsaiDojo. I’ve built up a pretty good network of “Bonsai Friends” over the years that are a wealth of knowledge and I’m going to do my best to get as much of that info onto BonsaiDojo as possible, to help the complete newbie to the old hand who just needs a bit of reminding.
